Fishtail Braid

Braids are an easy alternative from pony tails. I admit that they can be very challenging if you don’t know how to do them, but once you do, you will fall in love with them. Today I will only be showing you one, but will continue this braiding series later on.

The fishtail braid is different from a lot of the regular braids such as an original braid, a french braid, or an upside down braid. All of these braids involve dividing into three columns of hair, whereas the fishtail only involves two.

Pull all of your hair to one side (this also counts for middle) of your head, divide hair into two parts.
Take one strand of hair, it must be the farthest away from the other column of hair.
Cross it over so that it is now combined with the other hair in the other column.
Do the same with the other column and continue on. (Sorry about the picture, it's too bright!!!)
Continue the pattern until it looks like the picture above.
Almost done!
When you like the length of your braid, simply put in a rubber band. I added this bow because of my love of chevron, but you don't have to!

  2. I am terrible at braiding hair. I can't even French braid. I'd like to try the fishtail braid, but I need a little more help. How is the hair parted at the start? Do you have a front view picture? Also, does the braid go straight down the back or is it to the side?

  3. Leslie,
The hair is pulled in half, like the post above, most braids are pulled into thirds... not this one! The braid falls in whatever direction you chose. If you pull it to the side and do the braid it will fall to the side. If you just do the braid in the back it will fall there. I will send you a picture of the model from the back, I think I might have your e-mail address. But for the front view picture, I cannot. My Model has not let me show her face.

  4. Sandy,
You might know her, but she has strictly said no face! But I agree with her. Sorry.
